BARENA: dal Celtico Barre, terra tra il bagnoasciuga.
Barena è un nome italiano poco conosciuto per descrivere un territorio che si trova tra la terraferma e la laguna.
Originariamente Venezia era solo laguna, barena e qualche isoletta. La gente che viveva questo territorio passava con naturalezza dall’agricoltura alla caccia e alla pesca.

Ispirazione
Tutto parte dalla curiosità e dallo spirito di ricerca che nasce quando si visitano le isole dell’estuario di Venezia e quando si viene a contatto con aspetti di vita e costume affascinanti.
La collezione Barena s’ispira infatti, al modo di vestire della gente che popolava questi luoghi.
Molti dei capi in collezione sono l’interpretazione di pezzi unici trovati nei musei o in libri che ritraggono immagini dell’epoca.
Barena è una collezione ispirata a quella poetica dell’imperfezione e della lentezza indispensabile ad ogni individuo per raggiungere i luoghi del cuore.

Il prodotto
La collezione Barena è caratterizzata non solo dall’ispirazione alla tradizione, ma anche dall’uso e dall’interpretazione di tessuti naturali di alta qualità, dalle lane ai lini.
Anche nella scelta dei tessuti, rigorosamente italiani, c’è il desiderio di custodire un patrimonio, quello della cultura tessile.
Particolare attenzione è data ai dettagli e alle finiture che rendono i capi molto particolari pur nella loro semplicità.
Nasce così un prodotto ideato e realizzato interamente nell’entroterra veneziano.

Le persone
Le persone che collaborano alla creazione di questo progetto sono unite da una comune passione per uno stile unico e semplice allo stesso tempo.
Sandro Zara ha iniziato questa attività nel 1961 animato dalla passione per quello che era il costume, la tradizione e in particolar modo il mondo tessile.
La progettazione e realizzazione di questa linea è il frutto del prezioso lavoro di Massimo Pigozzo, aiutato nelle sue ricerche da Giovanni e Francesca Zara.

Meaning of Barena

BARENA: from the Celtic “Barre”, land that is neither
wet nor dry.
Barena is a little known Italian name which describes a zone that is between land and lagoon.
Originally Venice was only lagoon, barena and other little islands. The people living in this area, easily made the transition from agriculture to hunting and fishing.

Inspiration
All stems from the curiosity and the spirit of research that is born when one visits the islands of the Venetian Delta and when one comes in contact with aspects of life and costumes that are fascinating.
 

The product
The collection Barena is characterized not only from the inspiration and tradition, but also from the use and interpretation of the natural fabrics of very high quality: wool and linen. In the choosing of the fabrics, that are exclusively Italian, there is the outmost desire to preserve the treasure which is the textile knowledge.
Particular attention is given to the details of the fi nished products that the results of the fi nal garment are very exclusive in their simplicity.
In this fashion a product, conceived and realized entirely in the confi nes of Venice, is born.
 

The protagonists
The people that collaborate in the creation of this project are united by a common passion for a style that is simultaneously simple and unique.
The founder of this enterprise is Sandro Zara, who, in 1961, was spurred by the passion for all that was the costumes, the tradition and most importantly the textile world.
The conception and realization of this line is the result of the very valuable and talented work of Massimo Pigozzo, who is complemented by the very able support of Giovanni and Francesca Zara is its research.
